Interesting News Story - How do you filter out useless information

LONDON (Reuters) - Filtering out useless information can help people increase their capacity to remember what is really important, researchers said on Wednesday.
Scientists at the University of Oregon in the United States have demonstrated that awareness, or visual working memory, does not depend on extra storage space in the brain but on an ability to ignore what is irrelevant.
"Until now, it's been assumed that people with high capacity visual working memory had greater storage, but actually it's about the bouncer -- a neural mechanism that controls what information gets into awareness," said Edward Vogel who headed the research team.
The findings reported in the journal Nature would overturn the accepted concept of memory capacity, which has suggested that how much a person can remember depends on the amount of information crammed into the brain at one time.

Educational System

Folks,

Whether you realize it or not, our educational system is Broken. It is just one big beauracratic nightmare.

Can it be fixed. Not without something radical happening. Between the out of control Political Correctness momentum of the 1990s, the Psycho Babble Bull Shit that has been getting rammed down our throats for the last 20 years, the Out of Control Government Spending Bandwagon that our "Illustrious Elected Officials" have been on. The system is Broken, our Country spends so much on education and gets less and less, they can't even afford basic essentials in cirriculum and supplies, yet somewhere around 40% of the entire California Budget is spent on education.....
Where is the Money Going??????? Tell Me Mr. Politician, Mr. Beauracrat, Mr. School Board President. WHERE. WHO are you accountable to.

Oh and one more thing ....Except for the Newman School District, which I have heard has the best food this side of the Mississippi River, The Prisons serve better food than the schools...Why is that.

Must Be in the Front Row.


I did enjoy sitting in the $ 965.00 seat at the 2005 Kings Home opener. I greatly thank the corporate corporation that hosted me. Yes it's a very nice place to watch a basketball game in the front row. It rather puts things in perspective, does an ordinary fan ever get the chance to sit there? Will my son ever get the chance to sit there? Who knows. perhaps I will get to sit there again. It was very nice. You can hear all the smack talking, you can smell the Icy Hot.
A Thousand Dollars to go to a Basketball Game per seat.... But you can be only 10 seats away from the Maloof Brothers.

To bad they lost, they actually got their lunch handed to them, complete with dessert. The Detroit Pistons beat the shit out of the Kings. And probably rightly so, I think they are the defending Champions? Correct me if I'm wrong, at least I know that they did play in the NBA Finals last year, but don't remember if they won. They were also involved in the Brawl last year with the Indiana Pacers. Hmmm Just looked that one up, I guess it was the nother Wallace, not Rasheed Wallace (Man that guy is a phenomonal player....hey this blog thing needs spell check....

Anyway the Game was absolutely cool, If you get a chance to sit in the Front Row of an NBA Game.....................DO IT.
